AGE OF AQUARIUS HIGHLIGHTS

EXPLORADIUM* - GRAPHIC DESIGN

Depicted above is an assortment of highlights of designs created for exploradium* garments and pop-up stall advertisements. As the brand defines itself as “Punk meets the Wild West,” Punk approaches to DIY, subversive modification, and work-in-progress collage aesthetics have been applied to traditional Americana imagery to create an angsty, youthful commentary on the death of the American Dream and the oppression of established sociocultural and socioeconomic structures limiting opportunity for financial stability. The work is categorised by a cynical distaste for mirage, illusion and deceipt - especially propagated by social media and information sources with vested interests.

EXPLORADIUM* - COLLECTION TEASERS

Above are small Instagram tiles which were made to announce collection releases on Instagram for exploradium*, including ‘Plastic County,’ ‘The Wolf Cried Boy,’ ‘Song of the Siren,’ and ‘Psychic Reader.’ They were aligned with the general aesthetic code of the brand but were required to encapsulate the entire theme and specific references of each collection.

AUS. DESIGN PHOTOBOOK - COVID-19

As the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown was in full swing at the time of making, this work involved taking film photographs of typical symbolic representations of freedom (open fields, dancing in the dark, outstretched hands and driving on an open road), then physically distressing the photographs with sandpaper, before enhancing this post-production. The lyrics of Icehouse’s ‘Great Southern Land’ were then adapted, subverted then superimposed onto the rescanned images to create a cynical commentary on the loss of freedom and ability to socialise.
